As you now know, we have been updating, renewing, moving and generally having a good old fashioned spring clean (well the winter has not yet arrived this year*) in the barganews offices, servers, databases and computers. Still lots more to do so please be patient out there we will get there in the end.
A series of images have turned up on one the backup computers which according to my records I must have scanned and filed some time during 2005 or 2006 but for the life of me I cannot remember seeing them before.
I have printed them up and showed them around to a few people and they too have no idea who the people in the black and white images could be …so, using the power of the Internet, I now throw it out to you …. just who are these late 1950’s … maybe that’s too early , how about, early 1960’s musicians?
By the looks of things they are American or maybe British, so why are those images here in Barga?
*famous last words, I am sure that I will regret writing that
I think I know them … especially the handsome singer ๐
No dio mio, e veramente lui !!!
uno l’ho riconosciuto…quello accanto รยจ il fratello?
Very, very scary. I shall be sending some worryingly similar pics soon…
..insomma, lo volete dire un nome?
The singer is Geoff!
The Shadows
The back line are a very young Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young with Buddy Holly in the foreground. The photo was one of a set of 20 taken for a Marlboro ad campaign in the olden days when you could still have a smoke indoors and kipper all your friends, how do I know this? PIMPS! I recognise the wall paper!
rupert, would you kindly reconsider?
some of us have a weak stomach!
Well, I know some of the the guys in the second picture from the bottom. They are from right to left :: Trevor White, lead guitar, and the Gibson SG Junior he sold to Marc Bolan !!: Geoff White, Trevor’s brother, singer and gig-getter; Julian Ferrari, drums. I forget the name of the bass player. They were a band called “The A-Jaes” and later on I joined up on Vox Continental organ and we started to specialise in harmony songs by the Beach Boys, Four Seasons, Jan and Dean etc.as well as original material. When Geoff left, I think because we were gigging too much and it interfered with his “proper” work, we became the “Candy Bus” with a new drummer, John Taylor, and bass player…..why can I never remember bass player’s names ? We nearly made the big time, but…………..
Trevor went on later to play in Sparks, Radio Stars and Jook. We are still intermittently in touch, and a Candy Bus re-union will hopefully be in the offing soon……….I have never been in another band that sounded so good !
ps: I forgot……..Great to see Geoff is till actively singing and playing the ol’ Harmonica………………all my regards !!
