Carnival in Barga Vecchia
11th February and it carnival time in Barga. This afternoon the streets of Barga Vecchia were full of masked figures running around having a very noisy good time … and most of these figures seemed to be under 1 meter 20 tall .. yep, its Carnevalino dei bambini - Carnival for small children. The streets are carpeted with confetti, shouts, laughter and (screams) fill the air as the children of the area let loose and enjoy the carnival. The perfect weather conditions with even the sun breaking though and filling the piazza with light made this one of the better carnivals held in Barga recently (no bitter north wind to cut you to the bone) Music, clowns and even hot food to keep the party going until late in the afternoon.

It is fantastic to see such community spirit,almost every week in barga there is something going on that involves the kids and parents.It has became so screwed up in the U.K. that you cant take photos or video your own child or grandchitd in a public place just in case you capture another childs image…..where has all the fun gone,yes today there are fears but the powers that be have got everybody looking over their shoulder….. thanks barganews for a bit of good old fashioned fun .
