“Le Voce delle Metamorfosi” by the Gruppo Teatrale Papalagi and the Centro Salute Mentale “Tuiavii”
The theatre company Papalagi brought a refreshingly new idea to the Teatro dei Differenti this morning – forum theatre – where the dividing line between audience and actors got very, very blurred. Even the idea of what actually was a piece of theatre managed to get moved around a good deal with live interviews taking place on and off stage until nobody could be sure of what was real and what was not.
What was probably happening this morning was that both audience and actors were being changed into Spect-actors.
The term created by Augusto Boal, an innovative and influential Brazilian theatrical director, writer and politician. He uses the term to describe those engaged in Forum Theater. It refers to the dual role of those involved in the process as both being spectator and actor, as they both observe and create dramatic meaning and action in any performance. The only thing for sure was that the audience comprising students from the I.S.I and members of the GVS loved every minute of it.
