As we have been reporting for the past couple of months, another new enterprise opened in Barga Vecchia this afternoon, a new wine shop – an enoteca called Colordivino, enoteca e dintorno. So not just a wineshop but also everything to do with wine.
Local products like pasta, honey and also goods made using wine, like candles, bubble baths and suchlike.
John Moscardini, the owner of the new enoteca in an interview (it can be listened to by clicking on the link at the bottom of this article) explained his thinking behind the new venture.
He wanted to bring a selection of some of the wines produced right across the country and make them available here in Barga. He has stocked the shop with wines from the far North of Italy right down through the various regions in Italy to the far South of Sicily and even onto the famed Island of Pantelleria. He also has a large selection of wines from the Chianti area and of course from Lucca for those who prefer the local wines. He did find some problems in finding local suppliers for some of the wines from other regions so he used the internet to search out and contact wine producers across the country. He will be using the net again later on in the season when the Enoteca Colordivino itself goes on line so that people can chose and buy some of his wine via their home computers.
