BrucknerEnthusiast
Vanessa plays this repertoire more accurately than some of the pianists who claim to be 'specialists in 20th-century specialists'. Thanks for posting.
laurion69
xralph1968x
thank you very much for posting this video. people who have problems with stockhausens music should simply open up their ears or hear the stuff they are used to and go somewhere else
laurion69
There is no Stockhausen's music.
orpheus63
I urgently need more of this
edbingey
I somehow doubt that
laurion69

If you like Stockhausen, you might want to look up Krzystof Penderecki: Threnody for the victims of Hiroshima, Flourences for Orchestra so on, also check on George Crumb(Black Angels), John Cage, Daniel Lentz(song of the Sirens)or look up the pioneers of the field such as: Arnold Schoenberg, Albin Berg, Anton Webern and Igor Stravinsky.

You posted this on every single Stockhausen page I looked at today!
shakinjamaican101
Well its just in case... if people miss one there are plenty of others.
gasiraz
the problem with this piece-and many others written during the XX century-is that each individual tone or note seems not to have any relation to the following next. This sort of compositions rests over timbre, accent, pitch, Harmony has no place in these works as we all know. However I think this piano work is good because its interesting sonorities
jamesaellis
lets not forget Stock. teacher Oliver Messiaen the best of them all!

How do you tell if she hits a wrong note? She could totally butchor this piece and nobody would ever know.
zizanie
Beautiful pieces of course, but playing sounds a little too conventional and academic thus boring...
patrickloiseleur
Agree with you, it's boring. Maybe the interpretation is too academic, but the score also is boring. Like other works by Stockhausen (Stimmung, Helikopter Quartet), it's funny during the first two minutes and then just boring.
zizanie
Maybe so, but I still think it's possible to play these pieces very precisely, as the composer wanted them to be, but with humour, energy and spirit, so they never sound boring.
Even the most beautiful Beethoven sonata may sound boring. There are the signs on the score and then what the score "says": interpretation of the signs, as in any written text. If you remain on the sign level, even if you are a skilled player, it will sound boring.
Bandtape
A great composer is going in a another land, of sounds and beauty. Thank you Karlheinz Stockhausen for your music, your adventure, your chaos and your influence for many centuries...
sednocramf2
May K.S. rest in peace
But I must let here my opinion: his music is the greatest peace of crap i've ever heard in all my life. Put a 1 year old girl in from of the piano and it will produce a sound better than this.
RodericusNamak
Yeah, I don't know why people bother watching the Simpsons. My 9-year-old cousin can draw better than that.
coldstorageman123
This stuff works really well in horror films from the 70's. Chaotic nonsense. Like I posted on another piece, a MIDI keyboard of mine had a failing battery, and it produced music of a similar style.
SylvieMarie
NitramZiarreh
I totally agree with Zizanie. Stockhausen was not even one of my favorite composers, but I hold him in high esteem. Regarding some of the other posts, I always find it astonishing, the unrepressable need that people have for expressing their "opinions" about stuff they don't understand. Actually, just because you don't have the slightest idea of what is going on in a piece like this, doesn't mean there isn't SOMETHING actually going on - something which may even appeal to others, who knows.
If you think this music is crap, you should go home and try to compose a piece of music which truly expresses something to you. If you succeed, than we can discuss. If not, go express your "opinions" on subjects you understand. If you don't understand music and don't want to try it yourself, you should limit yourself to listening and not talking about it. Of course, you CAN keep talking, at your own risk of just seeming stupid (and not being taken seriously by anyone)...
