Mr. Pitiful play the last night at the Piscina
Back in April they were setting Castelnuovo on fire with their version of very danceable hot soul (article here) Then at the start of the summer season they were in Piazza Angelio playing a blinder of set (article here) that got the whole piazza up on their feet and moving.
This evening at a special one off party to celebrate the end of the season for the Barga swimming pool, they were once more in Barga and sitting down was not the order of the evening. Instead it was dance, dance, dance.
Yes, the Mr Pitiful Soul Band with their charismatic singer Matteo Becucci were back and taking no prisoners

He asked the audience to plead with local musicians to jam with him on his second night at the Sport. I also think our grande batterista is confusing blues with soul in his comment about inexpensive guitars. Bluesmen will perform with just a chitarra da 2 soldi, but soul was always highly orchestrated music with lots ofhorns and string instruments in the background -- as well as a full set of drums -- and usually three our four back-up singers.
