The vendemmia – the grape picking harvest is in full swing in the vineyards dotted on the hills surrounding Barga.
Most people are reporting that this year the grape harvest is going to be good as far as quality of the grapes but low on quantity.
The mild winter with the lack of snow and low rain fall during the spring has been quoted as the main reason behind the smaller harvest for 2007.
All eyes are on the weather forecast for the next 3 – 4 days as a cold weather front moves down across the area leaving at risk the grapes still unpicked in certain vineyards.
