There have been a number of changes here on the barganews site recently .. some of them forced upon us in an attempt to keep out the hackers and script kiddies who seem determined to put a stick in the wheel and then there are other changes which are there to make the site easier and more enjoyable place to visit.
A good example of this would probably be the new method to show media – images, short films and streaming sound. As with all new things there is a transitional period where some people have problems adapting to the new system.
There have been a number of e-mails to the barganews office this past month asking for more information on how to view the images on the site. After replying to eight or nine of these e-mails and also being stopped in the piazzas of Barga Vecchia by a number of people asking for the same information, I decided to make a series of short instructional videos which can be watched on the site explaining one or two of the hidden points. So here are the first two instructional videos – the first one explaining in more detail how to watch and listen to some of the media on barganews and the second, slightly longer, explaining a bit more about looking at the images on the daily images part of the website. What’s going on here? Over recent weeks there have been attempts to discourage people from visiting the Barganews site via Google; snide and nasty verbal attacks on the editor; and now this. One of the mixed blessings of the internet is that gives nincompoops and vandals ample opportunities to make mischief. My question to them: can’t they get a life? Or at least go and make a nuisance of themselves at some other site that might be a fairer target for criticism?
