A WARM STEAMY KITCHEN

In a low white stucco house
With red tile roof
Flanked by tiled patios
Surrounded by an overgrown citrus grove
And sea air

Chilled slippery oysters
A drop of lemon
Crisp white wine

Clams
Mussles
Garlicy wine sauce
Linguine al dente
Tender white boney eel
Sauteed spicey herbed sausage
Salty bitter greens
Grilled slick eggplant
Tart in vinegar
And olive oil
Garlic and parsley

Walnuts to crack
Mandarines to peel
Dried figs strung on a branch
Of Ginestra
Soaked in vino cotto

Dry Prosecco
Sweet airy Panetone with chocolate chips
Brandied whipped cream filling and
A paper thin crust of chocolate

Dark wildberry infused liqueur
