David Melani and his Cortometraggio "Natalino"

A new name to add to the list of artists working in this area – the film maker, David Melani. He has been starting to make a reputation not just with his directing or his editing skills but also with his drive, purpose and all-round organisational abilities as he has been gradually putting together over the last couple of years a complete team dedicated to film making using local actors and technicians. David was in Barga this morning with some of his production team looking for suitable places in Barga Vecchia to film some of the scenes for his latest short film with the working title, at least for the moment,  “Natalino”

The film is based around a comic strip drawn by Nazareno Giusti involving the tragic story of a small boy injured during the war in 1944. Some of the scenes from this film had already been shot nearby at Ghivizzano but the streets are too narrow for the scenes involving lorries carrying German troops and so the production company is looking to Barga as a possible alternative.

Sommocolonnia with its history with the Buffalo soldiers and the Gothic line is also being looked at as a possible site for filming.

Le prove generali della prima scena, ambientata al Castello di Ghivizzano Alto, sono avvenute con successo. La settimana prossima cominceranno le riprese !!!

18/02/09 Anche oggi tutto è andato benissimo e sia gli assistenti che gli attori hanno fatto un lavoro eccezionale. Purtroppo non abbiamo fatto in tempo a finire il programma, quindi la settimana prossima saremo ancora a Ghivizzano Alto a girare gli anni 60
