Trout Farm open to the public?

Five years in the making but this morning a new venture was opened as Francesca Tognarelli cut the inauguration ribbon for the new trout farm in Rio Villese. A fitting choice of person to open the proceedings as Francesca was the owner of the area before the transformation work was started. The farm which has already been raising trout from eggs for the past 4 years is part of the project to re stock the rivers and streams in this area with the Fario trout. This project has been organised and supported by the Comunità Montana della Media Valle and the Provincia and Regione. There was also talk this morning at the official opening of making part of the area a picnic zone for visitors to Barga. The waterfalls and sound of splashing water during the hot summer months would certainly be something to be enjoyed by a larger number of people who now use what was once a forgotten corner of the Comune.
