Gold at the end of the rainbow?
An event which almost past by unnoticed during all of the festivities of the Mayor’s birthday yesterday, was luckily captured in part by the barganews award-winning photographer O’Connor. A brief thunderstorm during the afternoon and high winds which almost upset the opening of the John Bellany exhibition brought in over the area low clouds which were then lit up as the sun set over La Pania. An incredibly dramatic scene up at the Duomo with a flaming sunset on one side and believe it or not, a complete rainbow arching over the whole valley on the other side. While O’Connor was at work attempting to photograph nature at its best his phone rang not once but three times from friends informing him about an incredible meteorological conditions. So thank you, Andrea, Max and Alessandro.
O’Connor did publish another series of sunsets with this kind of light back in January – they can be seen here but as you will see nothing as dramatic as the ones above.
