Georgina Curtis – previews local knitwear collection
A collaboration between a local knitwear manufacturer, Papini and a designer, now based in London but with contacts here in Barga is gradually bearing fruit with a new collection of luxurious knitwear ready for the Autumn/Winter 2009 collection in the UK. Georgina Curtis studied at the London College of Fashion, London, UK and been freelancing ever since as a stylist and fashion designer.
Recent projects include her first wardrobe job for the BBC, promoting the ‘Char Girl’ fashion trend in UK magazines, designing and making cabaret and burlesque outfits for London theatre scene and of course the Papini A/W 09 soft accessories collection from Italia featured in the images below.
She first started designing wedding dresses, using patchwork with photos and messages all over the dress and now makes Ester Williams inspired headresses for brides and assorted accessories under her own label – Little Miss Sew’n'Sew,
Papini established in 1920, has been trading for over 90 years in the knitwear industry, providing a respectable, friendly family run service that specializes in wool, cashmere, merino and eco-fur accessories. Having produced for prestige brands such as Benetton, Canadien and Etro they have now invited a London based fashion designer to innovate and create winter accessories of a high calibre incorporating practicality, flair and diversity that will appeal to a wide range of consumers.
