Riccardo Pieri is known in the city as a classical musician but every year he also dons another hat and puts up an exhibition of his paintings. As he explained at the opening of his latest show in the Memory Museum in Barga Vecchia this afternoon – he still thinks of himself as primary a musician but wants to share with the community his exploration in the field of figurative painting. He is not interested in showing his work outside of the city but wants to keep it a more informal “family affair” Over the years he has allowed us to see his gradual transformation from his first very hesitant brush strokes into his latest paintings this year which show a much more controlled and maturing mark making on the canvas.
