The award winning barganews photographer O’Connor was for once on the other side of the camera this evening for the first ever facebook Pub photographic competition held in this area. He was one of the judges wrestling with the difficult decision on just which was the best digital photograph from hundreds shot in and around the Cocktail Time Ristopub in Fornaci di Barga. Publicity for the event was via the internet using the social networking site facebook. The competition itself was remarkable simple to set up. Anybody could bring their own digital camera or even borrow one of the cameras available and take any number of photographs on the subject of the Ristopub. The images were then taken off the cameras and put onto a computer where the three judges could decide which image best fitted the theme.
Each judge came from a different photographic background- Andrea Viviani, a professional photographer from Center Foto was there judging images on technical merit, Samantha Brandolani a film set photographer was looking for interaction between the people in the images and O’Connor from barganews was looking at the rather nebulous “art” aspect of each proffered image.
At the end of the evening the images from 45 photographers were whittled down to a short list and after much deliberation on the part of the judges the final results were;
1st prize – Lisa Gonnelle
2nd prize – Francesco Tomei
3rd prize – Azzurra Orlandini
Cocktail time Ristopub Fornaci di Barga
