Pomarola, minestrone and sformato
As we said in the last article about the barganews vegetable garden – during August and most of September there has been a constant supply of tomatoes coming off the field. The process of preparing, cooking and preserving has now been going on for a few days and the tomatoes have all been turned into pomarola and either bottled or frozen.
The other vegetables have been prepared for minestrone. The beans have either been dried or cooked and made into sformato – the freezer is now full to the lid.
Next up on the list of things to do – grinding the maize to make the corn flour for the polenta – article coming shortly.
