Camera – a new poem from Siona Dunn

Say I were a professional photographer, I would advertise my services with the words

lying’ s what I do best – you don’t have to do it yourself

emblazoned in neon over my studio name.

I promise, darling, to take you
and make you lovely: deepen that winter tan, banish the spots,
realign the eyes and whiten your smile. I promise, darling, to take you
and make you, lit from the west and gazing prophet-like to the east,
proud, imperial yet somehow humble, truly a global warrior,
charisma sparkling off your thick cropped locks
and well-toned neck, solo, or grouped with slender wife and daughters.

As for the ladies, oh to be two stone lighter, eh, girls?

  1. Siona,
    I have no clue who you are, or how much of a sucess you are with this wonder stuff. Just trust me when I say you have a fan in Ellon Scotland.;

    A pure bonus when you live on the Western Isles.
