A frequent visitor to Barga and one who has often featured on these pages, the ex Lord Provost of Glasgow, Alex Mosson was in Barga this week along with the Glasgow City councillor and Chairman of the Glasgow Licensing Board, Stephen Dornan for an un- official visit but bearing a very official message from the present Lord Provost – Bob Winter concerning the very long term relationship between Barga and Glasgow.
They are looking to construct stronger links with Barga on commercial, artistic and sporting levels; building on the decade of connections made by the previous Sereni administration.
Also present at today’s meeting with the Mayor of Barga, Marco Bonini , were the Mayor of Molazzano, Rino Simonetti and Hugo and Norine Bertagni from Chicago.
Alex Mosson known for striking while the iron in hot, took the opportunity to launch an idea for an exhibition of art here in Barga featuring artists from the Glasgow School of Art and the Chicago School of Art. Both of which exhibit their work in a biannual exhibition in Glasgow.
The imminent completion of re structuring work on Villa Gheradi could be a possible venue for such an exhibition.
