An image featuring the Duomo in Barga , the original building dates back more than 1000 years, has just been produced on an object which is decidedly of much more modern times. We are talking about the masterpiece of digital engineer left behind by Steve Jobs – the iphone.
An artist living in New York, but well known to Barga residents, Maya Harding has had printed on a case for her iphone some of her original work – a view looking across Barga Vecchia with the Duomo standing out against the backdrop of the mountains behind.
The new case came today and I am quite impressed. It fits the phone well and is a good quality image even with my less than wonderful photo. E’ come l’uomo morto mi guarda dall’occhio del iPhone camera. 🙂 – Maya Hardin
Back in July of this year we ran the following text in an article about one of the students working in the Studio of Colour Etching run by Swietlan Kraczyna here in Barga Vecchia – “The Studio of Colour Etching run by Swietlan Kraczyna opened its door this week to a group of students, mainly from the states, who will be working over the next three weeks for an exhibition of their multi plate etchings to be held at the end of their course. A welcome return to Barga for Maya Hardin, who was on the course last year as one of the students, but who this year is one of tutors. A “sneak preview” in Aristo’s this week of some of her work done in New York showed graphically just how far she has been pushing the multiplate printing process in the intervening 12 months. It will be interesting to see what images of Barga she comes up with this year…. watch this space ” ….and watch this space we did as over the next 6 years, Maya was a regular visitor to Barga as she worked on her prints both here in Barga Vecchia and back in New York.

Brilliant, Maya!
