Well it was forecast but I thought it was just going to be a few “grandini” (hail stones) but no, we awoke this morning to the first coating of snow this year.
Sensone is a beautiful place and even more so when covered in snow.
Living up here is a little more difficult but for me I am transported back to my childhood – to Narnia.
I am the Wicked Snow Queen of Sensone!
It does feel a little like another world, when I open the equivalent of the wardrobe doors (my front door) I am transported to another way of living.
It is not our first winter up here so we are well prepared, today I am wearing my ski pants.
It is a grey start to the day but without the wind it is not bitterly cold and our American guests have already been out taking photographs although I have told them to wait until the sun comes and then it will truly be a stunning picture.
So our challenge for today will be driving up the forest strada although saying that it isn’t that deep but as more snow is forecast I think we will leave the jeep at the top and walk down after we have completed our chores down below, just to make sure.
Coco has faired well but so he should as he is a little Shetland pony and they are used to snow, he tucked into in breakfast of rolled oats and treats with gusto this morning.
The duck was the funniest as I opened their door she flew out but the look of shock on her face as he feet touched the cold snow was noticeable.
The fire is burning away so we are all settling down to a hearty breakfast to set us up for the rest of the day.
I am so excited and amazed to the affect that first snow fall brings, the innocent pleasure of fun.
