The Piazza San Giacomo in Camporgiano, Garfagnana was the location today as the mild December weather continued allowing the Aristodemos to perform out in the piazza at a festival dedicated to some serious eating and drinking Garfagnana style.

Salty pigs bones and sweet chestnut polenta, roast chestnuts and mulled wine

Some of the men of the village were there showing off their technique for roasting the chestnuts in shallow pans over a fire with praise from all assembled round the fire for the person who could shoot the chestnuts up into the air higher than the others and without shouts of disgust if any chestnuts ended up in the flames.

You’d like to be an American
‘merican, ‘merican
but listen to me, is it worth?
you want to be trendy
but if you drink “whiskey and soda”
and then you have a long hangover
You dance rock ‘n’ roll
you play baseball
but who gives you the money to buy Camels?
your mother’s bag!

Puorte o cazone cu ‘nu stemma arreto
‘na cuppulella cu ‘a visiera alzata.
Passe scampanianno pe’ Tuleto
camme a ‘nu guappo pe’ te fa guardà!

Tu vuò fa l’ americano!
mmericano! mmericano
siente a me, chi t’ ho fa fa?
tu vuoi vivere alla moda
ma se bevi whisky and soda
po’ te sente ‘e disturbà.

Tu abballe ‘o roccorol
tu giochi al basebal ‘
ma ‘e solde pe’ Camel
chi te li dà? …
La borsetta di mammà!

Tu vuò fa l’ americano
mmericano! mmericano!
ma si nato in Italy!
siente a mme
non ce sta’ niente a ffa
o kay, napolitan!
Tu vuò fa l’ american!
Tu vuò fa l’ american!
