There is snow on the ground once again around Barga as we move out of January and into February, traditionally the coldest months of the year in this area but there is always some warmth to be found in Barga Vecchia at Aristo’s. Aristodemo Casciani who had only just recently celebrated his 86th year on the planet, died two days ago on the 4th October in the local hospital. He was laid to rest this afternoon in the Barga cemetery after a moving service in San Francesco with Don Stefano Serafini leading the congregation with prayers...

The last really big birthday celebration for Aristodemo was back in 2004 for his 80th birthday. On that day there was a large party in the piazza with one of the largest birthday cakes seen in Barga Vecchia and of course, lots of live music.

Joyce from Boston USA, on her 12th visit to Barga, was in Barga Vecchia this afternoon with 20 of her compatriots for a short visit to the Museum up at the Duomo.
