Luca Bacchetti - future international star of dance music
Luca Bacchetti is definitely a force to be reckoned with in today’s house and techno scene. His background of soul, hip hop and even drum & bass has given him the right foundation to become one of the future international stars of dance music. Luca cut his teeth in the scene with a Radio show on club Culture, which gave him the initial notoriety and deserved push to start playing clubs in and around Italy. Guzzoletti the Trumpet at Miami WMC
One of the most recognisable people in Barga has been spotted on the other side of the pond at the Winter Music Conference held each year in Miami USA. Our very own master trumpeter Andrea Guzzoletti (site here) who has featured on these pages many, many times over the years along with other members of the Barga Jazz Club, the BargaJazz Band and of course as the driving force behind the now sadly gone but still missed experiment in House Music - the Apecarica club. (images from Apecarica featuring Andrea, articolo 31 and Luca Bacchetti are here) He is still making music, pushing the envelope and keeping people dancing. Maybe 2008 is the year that he finally get “the break” into the big time and manages to get his music in front of a larger audience? Continue reading ‘Guzzoletti the Trumpet at Miami WMC’5 Comments »

As we almost get to the end of the year, what about a really quick article to keep you all occupied ? It's just too chilly out there today to go looking for news so how about this one from Aristo's bar this evening ? A fine mix of talented musicianship and bravado set against a backdrop of the humble hanging salami and unmistakable background smell of cheese. Some great clarinet along with guitar, mandolin and african drum. Continue reading ‘Clarinet and Salami’

Melanina at the Barga Jazz Club
Back in July, we published an article about the Mr. Pitiful soul Band who had just played a blinding set in the piazza for the Festa delle Piazza ( you can read that article here) That evening somebody posted a comment on that page saying how much they had enjoyed that band and asking just who was the girl singer who joined them on stage for a couple of numbers towards the end of the set: Continue reading ‘Melanina at the Barga Jazz Club’

Jazz Jam Session at barga jazz club
Jazz Jam Session at barga jazz club, Friday evening brought some new musicians working together in front of the knowledgeable jazz club audience. The presence of Nicolao Valiensi on trombone added a more poetic tone to the evening as he is of course almost incapable of playing straight traditional "down the line" jazz - even the well worn standard jazz numbers take on a different aspect when Nicolao warms up his trombone. An almost tropical mood at Barga Jazz Club
A classic dark autumn evening in Barga Vecchia with deserted wet streets and piazzas but in the Barga Jazz Club the atmosphere was anything but damp and miserable. The Barga Jazz Club re opened the doors this evening after the long summer layoff. The sound proofing inside the club makes the interior just too hot during the summer months and opening the windows is just not possible as the sound would travel right across Barga Vecchia and so the place is shut down from June until October (the closing concert in June is here) This evening all was back as it should be and the semi darkened rooms were buzzing with people pleased to get back into their club for the regular Friday night session.
