Visitors to Barga over the years who have noticed the brightly coloured umbrellas that are to be found all of the city have often assumed that they were part of the traditional life in Barga along with the stone street and green wooden shutters. They are surprised instead to find that they are the work of one artist who has been painting umbrellas and then "releasing" then into the environment for over a decade..

"they are interesting objects as their size changes along with their use, they can pass from an almost aggressive object, a rolled up umbrella to a passive, protecting object in a second.""they are light, cheap and disposable and therefore to be found dumped all over the place when broken. I wanted to bring new life into these broken discarded objects"
