John Bellany, was chatting to nurses and demanding pencils and paper in his hospital bed last night, despite suffering two heart attacks less than 24 hours earlier.
John was on his way to the opening of his new exhibition in Glasgow when he collapsed in the street with a heart attack. He was resuscitated with the help of a passing nurse before the ambulance arrived . He suffered a second attack on the way to the hospital.
The news of his condition was then relayed to the people waiting for his attendance at the opening of the exhibition, "The Bellany Odyssey" which features new paintings from Barga and from his recent trip to China.
