#loveproject – 20 paintings given to Lucca

#loveproject – 20 paintings given to Lucca

#loveproject – The plan, says Keane, is to “place two paintings from each of us in five of the most important piazzas of Tuscany’s five most important cities: Florence, Siena, Livorno, Pisa and Lucca. Anyone who wants them can take them away, at no cost. Absolutely free.”

The second group  of  #loveproject paintings were installed in the second Tuscan city which gave their patronage to the project – this time, the City of Lucca. As can be seen from the image above, the major piazza’s of the city were host (for a least a limited time) to a series of paintings from Fabrizio Da Prato […]

Andrea Guzzoletti and the #loveproject

Andrea Guzzoletti and the #loveproject

Standing in the background this weekend in the deserted 13th century church in the long-deserted (and now slowly gentrifying) village of Isola Santa, rising like a ghostly medieval wraith over a lake deep in the forested Apuan Alps was the figure of the Barga musician, Andrea Guzzoletti. He was there to add his particular form […]

The plan is to place two paintings from each of us in five of the most important piazzas of Tuscany’s five most important cities: Florence, Siena, Livorno, Pisa and Lucca. Anyone who wants them can take them away, at no cost. Absolutely free. - Keane and Fabrizio Da Prato

With less than two weeks to go to the presentation of the #loveproject in the 13th century church in the long-deserted (and now slowly gentrifying) village of Isola Santa, things are starting to take shape. Today work started on building the large wooden structures which will be need to house the 100 paintings by Fabrizio […]

The midday bells ring out once more

The midday bells ring out once more

after a gap of a few years, the bells ring out over Barga again

One of the ancient traditions of Barga has been renewed, much to the delight of inhabitants of the city – it is the ringing of the bell in the Duomo to let people know that midday has arrived. There is always the sound of the bells at twelve o clock but this is rung by […]

Local heroes

Local heroes

Barga and the Union of Serchio Valley Communities are responsible for this transit road but with all of the landslides in the area have not been able to address this essential road adequately. The locals have stepped into the breach and taken steps to make sure the road is drivable.

The weather has been atrocious, and there’s nothing we can do about it. What we can and have done though is help the community cope by doing what we can. The beautiful mountains surrounding the small Tuscan city of Barga are porous and underlaid with aquifer which provide the delicious drinking water we enjoy and […]
