1200 kms too far ?
The ever energetic Paolo Gas has today really surpassed himself with what could only be described as the longest “just popping out for some lunch, dear ” as he and four of his regulars left the Paolo Gas Bar on the Fosso in Barga early this morning in search on a decent fish meal. Nineteen hours later they […]

It was a really great way to spend a cold February evening and watching the film in a mixed group added to the charm. I understood some of the spoken words although the dialect was fast but I am sure that in time, watching the movies in this way will only enhance the speed of learning Italian.
Last night was the first of our Film Club nights; Paolo Gas hosted the evening providing a light snack and home made popcorn at half time. It was a great evening shared with both locals and expats. We started the evening with a light snack enabling everyone to catch up as some of us only […]

Monday 4th November 2013 Friday was a stay at home kind of day, Charlie being one of the “Living Dead” didn’t surface until well after lunchtime and only then because I called him. Mum and Charlie were leaving early in the morning so the whole day was spent resting and making sure the suitcases were […]
This morning anybody going into the Paolo Gas bar just outside the main gates of Barga Vecchi can admire the silver medal awarded yesterday in Milan to Paolo Marchetti. The contest has been long and hard fought as Cancellone 2011 came to a climax this evening after nearly a month of some pretty serious football. The final was between Trattoria Da Riccardo and Bar Paolo Gas, both establishments with a strong Scottish influence and both side by side on the Fosso just outside the […]
