Vicolo del Duomo is a traditional country home in the historic center of Barga, located on a private compound just under the hilltop Duomo (Cathedral). Its enormous terrace, entirely covered with a flourishing grape arbor, boasts one of the most glorious views in Tuscany an unobstructed vista extending across the Serchio Valley to the Apuan Alps and their village-dotted slopes. The compound includes a large garden, planted with roses, pomegranates, apricots, olives and herbs.
Inside, the terrace level of the main house offers a spacious living area with Tuscan terra cotta floors, divided into a comfortably appointed living room, kitchen and dining room. A full bathroom is located off a foyer to the rear.
The second story of the house offers three bedrooms, (two double-bedded, one single) and a second full bath. All of the rooms have wood parquet floors and views of the mountains, the village or the Duomo. Much of the furnishing is in antique local chestnut.
Equipment includes a laundry room, a fully-outfitted kitchen with professional range (five high-power gas burners and electric convection oven), dining service, ironing facilities, towels and linens.
A separate 16th century Annex and dramatic two-story Medieval cantina with four-meter-high arched windows also stand in the compound. For parties of up to seven, two additional guests can be accommodated in a two-room suite with separate wc in the Annex.
Parking lots are found within 400 yards of the house, just outside the medieval walls of Barga’s historic center. Direct bus service to Lucca, with easy connection to the international airports at Pisa and Florence, is available from a stop at the parking area. Regular direct train service to Lucca and onward is also available from the nearby station of Barga-Gallicano (4km).
