There has been an American artist working in the streets of Barga Vecchia this past month.
O’Brian Thiele, a muralist, illustrator and painter has been working on a series of paintings based on the narrow streets and sunlit fronts of houses, palazzos and (for the moment) half empty piazzas.
O’Brian who usually works out of Berkeley, California, is staying in Barga Vecchia with friends and can often be seen with his easel, brushes and canvases as he likes to work with the real world in front of him. As you can see from the images, this week he has been working in Piazza Angelio.
O’Brian says on his website: I am an artist and muralist. My paintings and murals adorn private homes, businesses and public walls throughout the United States. I have many years experience working with home owners, interior decorators, and architects as well as other artists on large art projects. I have designed stained glass windows, glass mosaics, as well as other architectural decoration.
Working extensively with stencils, gold leaf and faux finishing, I have used these media for special and beautiful effects in commercial work. I am an expert in trompe l’oeil (fool the eye illusions)
