“Changing of the guard” at the Barga Jazz Club or “out with the old – in with the new” or maybe even, “the King is dead, love live the King” Pick whichever you like to describe this evening at the NEW look Barga Jazz CLub in Barga Vecchia. Alessandro Rizzardi who has been the president of the club for some considerable time has finally handed over the reins (should that be spelt with a g maybe? ) and there is a new driving force at the controls and maybe a new direction for club. First thing that hits the eye when entering is the new decor – very, I repeat, very dark is probably the best way to describe it. The walls now painted a distressed black and some new sofas, divans and settees where tables and chairs used to be, give it a smart “clubland” look.
New barstaff, an expanded drinks selection and even a questionnaire posing questions such as – “what other drinks would you like to be served? ” and “would you be interested in having something to eat with your drinks ? ” seems to be pointing towards an new interactive role between the members of the club and the staff who run the place. A new broom ? We shall see.
