This summer, sculptor Antony Gormley invites you to help create an astonishing living monument. He is asking the people of the UK to occupy the empty Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square in London, a space normally reserved for statues of Kings and Generals. They will become an image of themselves, and a representation of the whole of humanity.
Every hour, 24 hours a day, for 100 days without a break, a different person will make the Plinth their own. If you’re selected, you can use your time on the plinth as you like
you have to agree to these terms and conditions – I am capable of taking part in One & Other.
I agree that my place in One & Other cannot be transferred to anyone else and Artichoke will not allow anyone else to take part instead of me without their agreement.
I agree to follow any rules that Artichoke or its partners make about taking part in One & Other or any instructions they give me about taking part and the rules and regulations of the Greater London Authority and Westminster City Council.
I agree that Artichoke have the right to stop me taking part in One & Other at any time for any reason.
I will not be unfit through drink or drugs while taking part in One & Other. I agree that I may be tested for drink or drugs before I am allowed to take part.
I agree not to take any weapons or other dangerous items onto the plinth. I agree that I may be searched before taking part and agree that I will not be allowed to take part if I am found to have any dangerous items.
I will not do anything that breaks the law, including infringing copyright, breaching a contract, contempt of court, defamation or libel, breach of the peace or behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace, stirring up racial or religious hatred or hatred on grounds of sexual orientation, or causing harassment, alarm or distress.
I understand the risks involved in taking part in One & Other including the risk of falls and trips and exposure to the weather. The plinth is 4.4 metres by 1.7 metres wide and 8 metres above the ground. It will be surrounded by a 2 metre wide safety net. It will be open to the weather.
I agree that Artichoke are not responsible for any injury or illness, or loss or damage to personal equipment, or for any other losses that I suffer as a result of taking part in One & Other.
I agree that Artichoke and its partners can film, photograph or record me taking part in One & Other in any way.
I agree to take part in interviews for publication connected to One & Other.
I agree to Artichoke and its partners or agents contacting me by email, post or telephone in relation to the project.
I agree that Artichoke or its partners can use my name and home town, city or county and use films, photographs and records of me taking part in any way. At the moment, Artichoke plan to stream these over the internet, use them to make films, television programmes and books, use them for advertising and publicity and to make a permanent archive of One & Other, but they may use them in other ways in the future.

“Is it art, or total bollocks? I think art is in the eye of the beholder, so each will see it in their own way. I see it as theatre, I just hope people enjoy my performance, I know I am. ” – zenecho
