The last time they played in Barga, in an article published then we wrote: “Finally some Italian music in the piazza … sung by Italians, using the Italian language and singing about Italian things. Enough of the fake American music …. now it’s time for the Manolo Strimpelli Nait Orkestra”
A fine concert at Paolo Gas’s Bar this evening from the Lucca based band. Well done Manolo Strimpelli and the band and also a pat on the back for Paolo Gas and family who organised the whole thing.
This evening they were back, bigger, brasher, louder and more entertaining than ever before and the perfect ending to the holiday season in Barga over Christmas, New Year and Befana . Did anybody count just how many musicians were in the orchestra ? So how did they all manage to cram into Paolo Gas Bar, which by any standards is a little on the small side ? Maybe it was something to do with them practising first by cramming in to the tiny Manolo Strimpelli Nait Orkestra caravan which was parked outside the bar before the gig.
There were so many insde the caravan that at one point the metal supporting legs starting to bend and give way and the caravan started to lean at an alarming angle – none of which seemed to bother Manolo or his crew in the slightest.
E come ama dire lui stesso: “Mi casa tu casa, mi core tu core, mi Dacia tu Dacia….e viva l’ammorre!!” – source
