Music was the order of the day here in Barga with the Aula Magna at the Scuola A.Mordini resounding with the sound of instruments and voices of all types and colours.
First off were the pupils of the school who put on a show in front of a packed auditorium called “Chi trova un amico trova un tesoro – He who finds a friend, finds a treasure” – using mainly backing tracks they sang and recited poetry on the theme of friendship and Christmas.

Then in the evening it was the turn of the pupils from the Scuola Musica Barga to take to the stage, this time with some real instruments which included violin, flute, guitar, piano, clarinet, accordion, drums and of course, that most human of instruments – the voice.
The Orchestra “Carulli”, the Orchestra Moderna and the GLEE Club all were put through their paces in front of the full house as the Christmas spirit was gradually invoked by music means.
Strange the number of songs sung in English this year, you could almost forget that we were in Italy at some point. Has English become the default language for singing ?
Hopefully not as the Italian language with its natural rhythm and cadence is rightfully world famous for its musicality when spoken, when its sung its a world beater.
