The iBarga ( the first mediaeval historic centre in Italy coded up with QR codes – the system has been running successfully since 2008) and the iPascoli project appeared on national television this weekend on the TI CI PORTO IO programme on La7.
The presenters, Gianfranco Vissani and Michela Rocco di Torrepadula are seen on the program listening to the voice of Graziella Cosimini reading a part of one of Pascoli’s poems and wondering where it was coming from.
As you can see in the video below, in the end, the find themselves in front of the Teatro dei Differenti with Luca Galleotti who explains how the QR code functions and the difference between the black and the green tiles.
For those equipped with a smart phone or a tablet there is a kind of “poetry treasure hunt” activated in Barga this week. As part of the celebrations for the centenary of the death of the poet Giovanni Pascoli the organisers of the iBarga information system – the first mediaeval historic centre in Italy coded up with QR codes (the system has been running successfully since 2008) have now added a second series of small ceramic tiles containing QR codes. This time to distinguish the new tiles from the iBarga information tiles, they are green in colour and instead of pointing to information for visitors to the city, these once activated by scanning them with a smart phone or tablet, instead contain the voice of Graziella Cosimini recounting small fragments of poetry from Giovanni Pascoli.
It was decided early on in the project that the voice for the poetry should be a woman’s voice and not the usual male voice so often used in the past when his poetry was read out aloud and more often than not, in a declamatory way. ( Latin dēclāmāre, from clāmāre to call out)
Maybe it was possible to give a different feel to his words and reach out and touch people who had not heard Pascoli in a somewhat softer vein?
The decision to bring Graziella Cosimini into the iPascoli project came about after an event that took place in nearby Sommocolonia during August of 2010 – the night of San Lorenzo to be exact. That evening, she recited verses from the poet Giovanni Pascoli. Later on that evening the street lights were switched off and all heads turned up to watch the stars above. On cue the clouds, which had been covering most of the sky up until then , magically parted to reveal the night sky with most of the constellations perfectly set out above their heads for all to see. There are now 11 iPascoli tiles in Barga Vecchia, another 10 down in Parco Buozzi and a further 9 more installed in various places around the area including Pascoli’s house in Castelvecchio Pascoli.
There is now an iPascoli site on line with a satellite map showing the exact position of the tiles in Barga Vecchia and to make it even easier to get to see that site, the Comune of Barga has printed a credit card sized map with a QR code which if scanned by a smart phone of tablet takes visitors directly to the site without having to fill in the details or address.

Tra le iniziative delle celebrazioni per il centenario della morte del poeta Giovanni Pascoli i promotori del progetto iBarga (Barga è il primo centro storico medievale in Italia codificato con codici QR) hanno aggiunto un seconda serie di piccole piastrelle di ceramica contenenti codici QR. Questa volta le nuove tessere, di colore verde, invece di offrire informazioni per i visitatori della città, attivano, attraverso la scansione con uno smartphone o tablet, una voce (quella di Graziella Cosimini), che racconta piccoli frammenti delle più belle poesie di Giovanni Pascoli.
Nelle prime fasi del progetto è stato deciso che la voce per interpretare le poesie pascoliane doveva essere una voce di donna e non la solita voce maschile così spesso usata in passato, quando le poesie di Pascoli sono state lette ad alta voce e il più delle volte in modo declamatorio. L’idea era ed è quella di dare un tocco diverso alle sue parole e toccare le persone con una vena un po’ più morbida.
La decisione di portare Graziella Cosimini nel progetto iPascoli è nata dopo un evento che ha avuto luogo nei pressi di Sommocolonia nel mese di agosto del 2010 (la notte di San Lorenzo per essere esatti). Quella sera Graziella recitava appunto versi del poeta Giovanni Pascoli e la sua interpretazione fu per noi convincente ed ideale per rappresentare il nostro progetto.
Ora ci sono 11 mattonelle di iPascoli in Barga Vecchia; altre 10 nel Parco Buozzi ed altre 9 poste in vari luoghi pascoliani come la stessa casa – museo di Castelvecchio.
C’è adesso anche un sito iPascoli on line, con una mappa satellitare che mostra la posizione esatta delle piastrelle in Barga Vecchia e per promuovere le informazioni per visitare quel sito, il Comune di Barga ha stampato una specie di piccola mappa in formato carta di credito con sopra un codice QR che, se scansionato dal vostro smartphone o tablet vi porterà direttamente a destinazione senza dover digitare il suo indirizzo.
Qui di seguito vi presentiamo una piccola selezione di alcuni dei frammenti che possono essere ascoltati in giro per l’antico castello di Barga.
TI CI PORTO IO… è una delle conferme del palinsesto di La7 per la stagione televisiva che ha appena debuttato: in onda lo scorso anno con un discreto successo, il programma itinerante condotto dalla strana copia Vissani-Rocco, torna in onda a partire da domenica 7 ottobre alle 12.00 su La7. Tra itinerari curiosi e percorsi enogastronomici originali, nella prima edizione i due conduttori hanno mostrato luoghi bellissimi e magari semisconosciuti del Belpaese, raccontando tradizioni culinarie e incontrando personaggi più o meno noti. Dalle montagne del Trentino alle valli toscane, dal mare campano alle saline siciliane, Gianfranco Vissani e Michela Rocco di Torrepadula hanno percorso la penisola da Nord a Sud tra gag improbabili a bordo della loro 500 gialla.
