The music festas in Barga Vecchia should all be over by now, but it would appear that somebody forget to mention this to Geoff Collins-White

There he was in Piazza Angelio this evening strumming away like there is no tomorrow.

The party never finishes in Barga.

Standing next to him on stage playing guitar and singing in close two part harmony was his brother Trevor and as you can hear in the short recording above, they were performing songs from another great musical brother team – The Everly Brothers.

The Everly Brothers (Isaac Donald “Don” Everly, born February 1, 1937, and Phillip “Phil” Everly, born January 19, 1939) are American country-influenced rock and roll singers, known for steel-string guitar playing and close harmony singing. The duo was elected to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986.

The Everly Brothers were not only among the most important and best early rock & roll stars, but also among the most influential rockers of any era. They set unmatched standards for close, two-part harmonies and infused early rock & roll with some of the best elements of country and pop music. Their legacy was and is felt enormously in all rock acts that employ harmonies as prime features, from the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, and legions of country-rockers to modern-day roots rockers like Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe (who once recorded an EP of Everlys songs together).

Probably many people in the piazza this evening did not realise that Geoff has a history of making music which stretches back right not just to his time with Jacks Pack, The Beagles or  his latest band – Grizzly  but in fact  to the start of the swinging sixties in London, UK with a band called the A-JAES.

Formed in January 1964, Geoff White, vocal and harmonica,
Trevor White, lead guitar and backing vocals.
Bill Parlor, Bass.
Norman King, drums.
The photos show the band shortly after the recording with  Simon Stanbrooke on bass, and Julian Ferrari on drums. This line-up stayed together for three years, playing the South London circuit with great success.
Trevor later found fame with Jook, Sparks, and Radio Stars, plus a solo single “Crazy kids”
