As most regular readers of barganews are probably well aware, the winter this year has been, at least so far, one of the strangest winters in living memory with next to no cold weather, very little snow but with an abundance of rain which are certain terms seemed to some observers, almost biblical in nature.
We’re now in the last week of February and maybe, just maybe we could be looking towards the arrival of the spring at some point.
In Barga Vecchia one of the visual signs of the continual damp weather is right under our feet – the stone work which paves the narrow streets of the city are starting to take on a strange greenish hue.
In all probability once the sun does actually start to shine again and people start to move around, this green
patina will disappear under the onslaught of the feet of many visitors to the city but for the moment it’s interesting enough to document.
