Candida Abbondio first appeared on barganews way back in 2004 (article here) when she opened a ceramic workshop and studio in Barga Vecchia after moving away from Milan.
Over the next decade she became one of the resident Barga artists who periodically showed their work in various exhibitions in Barga – Arti Differenti – Candida Abbondio, ceramista
Always in her work has been an underlying preoccupation with not just simply a decorative form of ceramics but also work which serves a particular purpose and none more so than in her latest work which has just been installed at the Acchiappasogni Luxury B&B Art Boutique Hotel in Via di Mezzo, Barga Vecchia.
A needed adjustment to the heating and air conditioning system inside the Acchiappasogni had left a series of metal grills which aesthetically did not match the general ambience of the Luxury B&B.
In stepped Candida who designed and produced a series of ceramic pierced covers in a style very reminiscent to Moroccan tile design which replaced the metal grills and restored once more the feel and look of each room.
