For the past decade there has been a steady stream of pupils from Italy and Scotland going backwards and forwards between the two countries.
The Prestonpans, Cockenzie and Port Seton and Longniddry school cluster has long-established links with this region, which has seen Italian pupils make reciprocal trips to Scotland.
