The storm had been predicted for the past two days and just as the wedding guests trooped into the church in Barga Vecchia, the heavens opened and down came the rain.
Inside as flashes of lightning and huge rolls of thunder filled the church drowning out the priest on a couple of occasions, Marco Lazzarini from Barga and Cécile Sandral-Lasbordes from Paris but now working in Los Angeles, California, were married in front of family and friends.

Just as they were attempting to sign the register, the power went out as well BUT as they say here in Barga “Sposa bagnata, sposa fortunata” – “wet bride, lucky bride”
