The Mayor of Barga Caterina Campani was in Scotland this week celebrating the Clan Italia Gathering – a meeting dedicated to the Italians of Scotland and also to the presentation of both Scottish and Italian products.
The idea for the event came from the restaurateur from Barga – Stefano Orsucci, supported by others including the bargo-scozzesi, William Moriconi and Michael Lemetti and in Barga also from the Tenuta dei vini Mordini with Leonardo and Daniela Mordini and finally Francesco Marcucci for Ambrosia gin.
So grateful to be able to take part in the Italian Festival in Inveraray organised by my dear friend Michael Lemetti of Clan Italia. Glad to wear the by now famous Italian tartan too! Thanks too to the Mayor of Barga Caterina Campani for her visit and pledge of a new era of cooperation. I was so honoured to receive from her the Pascoli Medal. Viva la Scozia. Viva Barga! – Ronnie Convery
Ronnie Convery, the Italian Hon Consul in Glasgow was also at the event were he was presented with the Pascoli Medal for his long term connection with Barga and Scotland when he was the administrative right-hand man of Archbishop Mario Conti.
