As the bells of the Duomo rang out at midnight on New Year’s Eve heavy snow fell on this area but it soon dissolved into
less dynamic and less visually interesting rain and the forecast is that it will continue for at least another week.
So it is a damp start to the year for the inhabitants of Barga but for those living further up on the mountain and up Garfagnana there is still a problem with the snow and for some comunes the heavy snowfall brought down electricity lines and they have been without power for more than 48 hours.
The comune workmen and the electricity company technicians are working hard to resolve the remaining problems.
