A new association called “Piccole Opere” has recently been formed in Barga with the aim to raise money to help construct a building in the Kadapa district of Andhrapradesh in India capable of welcoming the homeless and helping young people to integrate into their community through training and education courses.
Their intention is to raise the sum of three hundred and fifty thousand euros to build a dormitory, canteen, meeting room, laboratories and a health care clinic.
This project started in 2016 when Riccardo Luschini from Albiano visited India with the chaplain of the San Francesco Hospital , don Shyam Gudime
“The grave situation encountered in the local population made us decide” – say Riccardo and Don Shyam – ” to start doing small works such as distributing medicines, food, books, etc. in the villages of the Kadapa district.
We continued this activity with the help of other volunteers and benefactors with two initiatives a year.
In 2020, due to the pandemic, the situation of the poor worsened so much that the already precarious position of the needy was aggravated.
So, having found that it was necessary to intervene with more concrete and lasting works, we involved other friends and together we created the “Piccole Opere” – “Small Works” association.”
