Serchio delle Muse – Pontecosi 29th July at 21.00

The Serchio delle Muse has organised a concert on the Pontecosi lake with the Diffusion Brass Quintet that will perform music by Puccini and Piazzola, two masters with origins in the province of Lucca, in some way, two Lucchesi in the world. The Puccini family originates in the Serchio Valley, Giacomo himself lived in Lucca and was inspired by the lake of Torre del Lago and somehow the concert in Pontecosi wants to recall the famous Puccini festival and pay homage to the great composer. The second tribute instead is for Astor Piazzolla in the centenary of his birth, also with roots in Lucca, his maternal grandparents were in fact from Massa Sasso Rosso, in the municipality of Villa Collemandina. Here the Puccini melody and the Argentine rhythm come together for one night giving voice to two great minds from our land. Piazzola invented the ‘new ’tango, by incorporating aspects of classical music, jazz and other western genres. His music is a very good match for the Diffusion Brass quintet.

Diffusion Brass Quintet

The Diffusion Brass Quintet was formed in the summer of 2017 shaped by the idea of sharing the passion for music and the desire to spread the culture, character and peculiarities of the brass world, very often completely unknown to the collective imagination. The formation offers a vast repertoire articulated in the most disparate musical genres, it goes from classical to jazz, from pop to film music, and it gives space to operatic music, arriving at the broadest reach of music for audiences.

The Quintet performs in various situations. It is in fact the protagonist of performance concerts, and it  accompanies important soloists, duets with choirs and other ensembles. It connects music for entertainment, captivates in picturesque and naturalistic sceneries, and  it appears in the countless events for solidarity and charity in which it participates.

Made up of enterprising young people, the group boasts an average age of 23 years and includes among its ranks musicians with experience in important orchestras and theaters. The members are Federico Trufelli and Alessandro Vanni on trumpet, Matteo Marcalli on horn, Domenico Vanni on trombone and Giovanni Lombardo on tuba.
