Joseph and Linda Ciardiello from Gainesville, Georgia, USA (often called the “Poultry Capital of the World because of its large number of poultry processing plants) have been summer residents in Barga for more than a decade.
Joe wanted to add a Barga flag to his terrace in Barga Vecchia but he was unable to find a flag anywhere in the area.
He called into all the shops and businesses to see if one was available but without success.

Finally he took matters into his own hand and asked the artist Chris Bell to design a Barga flag for him and on returning to the US had a number of them produced.
This week he was back in the Barga and presented a finished flag to the Mayor of Barga, Caterina Campari.
Expect to see this flag flying over Barga in various localities this summer.
