Well, let's see if you will believe this story. I promise you it is true.

The ex-knifegrinder who now plays accordian in the streets is called Sergio.

Sergio travels all the time with his companion - a chicken who has been living in a box for so long that s/he has lost most of it's feathers and the ability to walk.

Sergio lives in his Ape. It is a highly customised and personalised Ape. In the back on the Ape there is all the equipment that Sergio used to used for knife grinding. Segio lives and sleeps in his Ape. Sergio has been living in his Ape for 11 years (anybody familiar with the weather up here in the mountains during the winter knows what that must entail)

Sergio has just had an operation on his throat and no longer has a voice. He uses a hand held device which vibrates against his throat to help him to communicate. This makes him sound like a robot (listen here)

Sergio now makes his living playing accordian in the streets.

Download the MP3 file and listen to his accordian playing and you will become aware that technically he has a fairly long road in front of him before it will be possible to actually call him "an accordian player"

Sergio is one of those "free spirits" that lots of writers, poets and songsters go on about but actually are very far and few on the ground.
