Pietro Soriani has been a regular visitor to Barga over the past few years. He has shown his paintings in exhibitions in Giardino, last year at Casa Cordati (small video here) and now this year at the Galleria Comunale.
The exhibition is called “Giochi di Colore” and includes some new bright and light filled work with water colours and the start of experiments in 3 dimensions using papier mache, the prefered medium of the carnival float makers at Viareggio.
Exhibition is on at the Gallery until 18th July
Papier-mâché (French for ‘chewed-up paper’ because of its appearance), sometimes called paper-maché, is a construction material that consists of pieces of paper, sometimes reinforced with textiles, stuck together using a wet paste (e.g., glue, starch, or wallpaper adhesive). The crafted object becomes solid when the paste dries. source
