Is a cash point coming to Barga Vecchia ?
Full house this evening in the Teatro dei Differenti in Barga Vecchia. The reason for was not one of the very successful plays that have been seen on the stage in Barga this season - instead the theatre was full to standing room only by bankers, politicians and interested parties.
The occasion was the official presentation by the local banking group, The Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca Pisa Livorno of their new combined territory here in Media Valle and Garfagnana. A reception was held for their guests later on in the evening in a marque erected for the purpose in the Piazza Salvi next to the Palazzo Pancrazi.
So what exactly will Barga get out of all this movement of banks and bankers ? Word on the street is there is a good chance that finally there will be a cash point set up in Barga Vecchia - something that many people have been waiting for to make their life a little simpler. Although there are many banks down the hill in the Barga Giardino area there has not been a working bank inside the castle area for many years. maybe, just maybe, that is just about to change,

Una “banca corta” ovvero una banca che da risposte immediate alle esigenze della gente. Ha definito così, il presidente della Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca Pisa Livorno, l’istituto di credito del gruppo Banco Popolare che venerdì pomeriggio ha presentato al teatro dei Differenti di Barga il nuovo presidio territoriale della Valle del Serchio. Una nuova unità operativa della Cassa, che avrà la sua sede a Ghivizzano e la sede di smistamento operativo nella filiale di Barga voluta per dare alla Valle del Serchio, una realtà imprenditoriale ed economnoica in cui l’istituto bancario crede fermamente, una propria autonomia gestionale in fatto di servizi bancari e finanziari.
