One of the more interesting events in Barga for the Christmas season 2008 was held this evening in the Teatro dei Differenti – Giacomo Puccini’s masterpiece, La Boheme. As well as being a tribute for the 150th anniversary of the birth of Giacomo Puccini, it is also the first of a series of events to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the reopening the Teatro dei Different.
The theatre was reopened after major renovations in 1998 and since then has become an important cultural centre with performances right through the year. It is also the home of the Festival Opera Barga and the very successful Barga Jazz Festival held during the summer months.
La Boheme this evening was a full version in 4 acts with a libretto by Giuseppe Giacosa and Luigi Illica and of course, music by Giacomo Puccini.
The Musicians and performers were: Mimi – Chiara Panacci; Rodolfo – Davide Righeschi; Marcello – Mattia Campetti; Musetta – Melissa Di Biasio; Schaunard – Diego Fiorini; Hills – Francesco Facino; Benoit / Alcindor – Flavio Fiorini; sergeant and customs official – They Gabriele.
The Schola Cantorum Labronico directed by Maurizio Preziosi, the Voci bianche of Santa Cecilia di Lucca, led by Sara Matteucci, and the Teatro Lirico Sinfonica del Giglio in Lucca, led by Maestro Massimo Morelli.
