A 0-0 result in a match against Villa Basilica was enough to keep AS Barga in their category and saved from being relegated to a lower division. The joy of their fans last night spilled over into the streets with a street party in Barga Giardino – Added to the noise and confusion were the Inter supports who organised an ad hoc motorcade through the town to celebrate their team’s victory of the Serie A title. (the Inter fans did the same last year )
Inter Milan won a fourth straight Serie A title yesterday despite not playing when nearest challenger AC Milan lost 2-1 at Udinese. Second-placed Milan trails Inter, who hosts Siena on Sunday, by seven points but the Rossonero have only two matches left to play
Milan’s defeat meant that Inter boss Jose Mourinho has won the scudetto in his first season in Italian football after joining in June last year.Milan went into the game in Udine knowing that it had to get a result to stop its bitter city rival claiming the title, but it put in one of its worst performances of the season.
