Andrea Fascetti at Barga jazz Club

Uno dei musicisti più interessanti del Jazz made in Italy Andrea Fascetti presenta al Barga Jazz Club il suo ultimo lavoro tutto dedicato a Steve Swallow, bassista elettrico di fama mondiale.

Andrea Fascetti, con il suo basso a 7 corde, presenterà cover e brani originali tratti dal suo disco “Dedicated to Steve”, disco grazie al quale ha ottenuto il personale ringraziamento da parte dello stesso Swallow.

Steve Swallow is a jazz bass guitarist and composer born in New Jersey, USA . One of the leading bassists in jazz, Swallow is noted for collaborations with Jimmy Giuffre, Gary Burton and Carla Bley. He was also one of the first acoustic bassists in jazz to switch entirely to bass guitar, on which he has a distinctively nimble sound.

Just as a matter of note – this year’s Barga Jazz Festival could well have been dedicated to Steve Swallow but prior engagements for Steve made it impossible for him to attend during August. His name remains on the short list for future Barga Jazz Festivals, so watch this space.

Sono rimasto subito folgorato dalla musica di Steve: melodie bellissime,strutture armoniche incredibili…..Erano gli anni della fusion ma Steve era un bassista elettrico che suonava jazz……fantastico!!!!!!Steve è stato l’unico bassista elettrico che si è guadagnato la stima totale dal mondo del jazz. In questi anni in cui ho cercato la mia strada musicale,ho pensato spesso a Steve Swallow come un esempio da seguire…… ( A. Fascetti )

Mr. Fascetti plays an electric seven string bass and would seem an honorable disciple of the Steve Swallow style of playing bass as an electric guitar. Fascetti has developed a bold arch top sound, somewhere in the median of a Jim Hall, Kenny Burrell flavour. The music flows with passion, the sounds are delightful, a stirring tribute. ( Paul J.
